ELEMENTARY

Our elementary program for grades Transitional-Kindergarten(T/K) through 8th grade offers core classes in language arts, math, science, and social studies.

These programs are designed to work alongside your homeschool curriculum to enhance your child's learning opportunities.

Since these classes are combined age groups, they are given individual grade appropriate instruction when possible.  In the case of combined learning, each year will alternate information presented, for example: 7/8 Science will focus primarily on Earth and Life Science one year, and then the following year the class will focus on Life and Physical Science.  This format will ensure that each age group is getting the full spectrum of age appropriate learning from year to year.

TK/Kindergarten

A hands-on, play-based program focusing on alphabet recognition, phonics, emergent reading and writing, counting, number recognition, basic addition and subtraction, shapes, and patterns, exploring nature, sharing, turn-taking, following routines, and self-regulation.

This program is from 8:30-1:15.

(Additional supervision is available until 2:20 for an additional cost)

TKers must turn 4 by September 1, 2026 and be fully potty-trained.

Kindergarteners must turn 5 by September 1, 2026

1st / 2nd Grade

Learning and strengthening reading is our main focus in this age group.  Multiple reading strategies, such as balancing sight-words with phonics, are employed to get our students reading.  The writing program focuses on building foundational writing skills through structured, scaffolded instruction. Math engages multiple areas such as addition and subtraction, understanding place value, solving word problems, and recognizing even and odd numbers, skip counting by 5s, 10s, and 100s.

This program is from 8:30-1:15.

(Additional supervision is available until 2:20 for an additional cost)

3rd / 4th Grade

Language Arts: Students cultivate a love of language through studying grade level classic literature, learning the building blocks of grammar, memorizing weekly spelling lists, and engaging with a classical writing curriculum.  Class time is divided between book discussions, grammar lessons, in class grammar activities, and learning to incorporate simple rhetorical devices into our writing.  We read about 4-5 books per semester which are accompanied by reading guides and have a short weekly writing assignment.

Math: Focus is on building fluency in multi-digit multiplication and division, more complex fractions, properties of geometric figures, problem-solving, number sense, and using real-world applications.

Science: Students explore foundational concepts of earth science, anatomy, chemistry, astronomy or zoology on a yearly cycle.  Hands-on activities and immersive, in-depth study give students the opportunity to develop a deep love for each subject.

Social Studies: Learning history and geography through hands-on interaction, memorization, and exploration.

5th / 6th

Language Arts: Students continue to deepen their mastery of the written word as we read classic literature, dive deeper into grammar concepts, memorize weekly spelling lists, and engage in classical writing exercises.  Class time is divided between book discussions, grammar lessons, in class grammar activities, and learning to incorporate different rhetorical devices into our writing.  Students can expect to read 1-2 hours per week, complete daily grammar worksheets to reinforce concepts taught in class, and be assigned a writing project of 1-3 paragraphs in length.

Math: Students master fractions, decimals, multi-digit operations, and geometry, including area, volume, and coordinate planes.  They apply math to real-world problems and use models to understand concepts. They also explore ratios, proportions, negative numbers, and algebraic expressions, learning to solve equations and interpret data using graphs and models.

Science: Hands-on activities and immersive, in-depth study give students the opportunity to explore foundational concepts of earth science, anatomy, chemistry, astronomy or zoology.

Social Studies: This course looks at human history around the world, from its origins to the modern day. Students will study culture, geography and global impacts as they travel through time - studies including reading corresponding literature and comparing events along histories timeline.

7th / 8th

Language Arts: Students hone their skills in literary criticism, grammar mastery, and the written art of persuasion and impersonation.  Students will read a variety of classic literature covering a wide range of genres including analogy, fantasy, autobiography, historical thriller, and plays.  More complex rhetorical devices are taught as we learn the tools of invention, arrangement, and elocution in weekly writing assignments.

Mathematics: Students deepen their understanding of operations with positive and negative rational numbers, percentages, and proportional relationships.  They solve single- and multi-step equations, explore geometry, and begin working with expressions and inequalities.

Science: Earth, Life and Physical Sciences focus on the spheres of the Earth, including the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere.  This course is taught in an active lecture format that teaches and encourages skills students will use in future educational adventures.

Social Studies: Students explore ancient civilizations and world history by studying history, geography, civics, and economics while covering major historical developments and cultural shifts.

The TK/K program is full for the coming year. You can apply for the waiting list.
